Sarika Tandon

Sarika (Sah’-ri’-kah) Tandon is an educator, facilitator, and consultant who focuses on social and racial justice issues.

She is the founder and principal of Rise Consulting (2018-2026) which worked at the intersection of race, equity, and environmental issues.

Sarika partners with organizations and communities to support the leadership, well-being and futurity of BIPOC communities. She has worked with partners, and clients to re-imagine and deliver programs and professional learning to center justice and liberation, and to support racially equitable processes and outcomes.

As an educator, Sarika centers the stories of people of color and those most impacted by social injustice. She helps foster understanding of how power and privilege work together to sustain systems of oppression, and works to identify and uplift pathways to justice and liberation for all.

Sarika’s work in higher education includes teaching courses on Race and Racism in the United States for the Department of Education at the University of Vermont.  She is also a former Faculty member at Antioch University New England Graduate School of Environmental Studies where she developed and taught course curriculum about Justice, Equity and the Environment and Climate change.

Sarika serves on the Board of the Haymarket People’s Fund, has previously worked with the Education Justice Coalition of Vermont, and the Montpelier Community Justice Center.

Sarika is an Indian-American, whose family comes from the foothills of Himachal Pradesh. She earned dual Bachelor’s degrees in Peace and Conflict Studies and Conservation and Resource Studies at the University of California at Berkeley, where she was deeply inspired by the East Bay Area’s rich activist history. Sarika holds a Master's degree from Antioch University New England’s Department of Environmental Studies with a concentration on in Social Justice and Sustainability.
